Where I've Been

I feel like I've been a little checked out on the blog this summer, and maybe especially last week, when I was in my favorite beach town - Bethany Beach, DE.

I may have angry New Englanders showing up at my doorstep with torches and pitchforks, but I love it so much more than Cape Cod, which is the closest beach area to where I live now.

There, I said it.

You can read more about Bethany HERE, where I shared some of our trip there last year.  My parents have had a house there for almost 10 years now and since it's a very unfortunate 8 hour drive from where I live, we only spend one week every summer there.  But I look forward to this week all year long.  Here are a few snippets from our Bethany 2013 vacation.

We did an excellent job keeping Maureen's Ice Cream Parlour in business while we were there.

We enjoyed the weekly live music on the boardwalk.

A couple cute mermaids washed up on the beach one day.

Ada guarded her sleeping cousin, Lily, and made sure no curious seagulls interrupted her beach nap.

There was some bickering - especially over who had supreme rights to Mimi - but mostly the girls and their cousin had a ball together.

We set the camera on timer and snapped a quick photo before my brother, sister-in-law, and husband left at the end of the weekend.

Beach runs and ocean watching after dinner were our favorite nightly routine.

Ada kept the littler ones occupied while we packed the car when it was time to leave.

And this isn't actually from the beach, but on our way to a bridal shower for my cousin's fiancee a couple days after we got back to my parents' house.

I'll wrap up a week here on Wednesday and have loved spending time with old friends, my grandmom, aunts, cousins, and some of their kids.  It's always a little sad for me to see these summer weeks in my hometown come to an end for another year...but I try to be a glass half full kind of gal when I can help it, and I feel very lucky to be able to come here every summer for a few weeks and spend time with people I love.

  5. Looks like a perfect vacation and I love all your photos. You have a beautiful family!
My favorite is your last paragraph because I so understand what you mean and I try to see the positive every year, since my most hated sentence is "see you next year" when I say good by to my family. It's so hard but I'm also so lucky to make the trip every year and I hope I will for a long time.
I wish the same for you!
